Threeding is a community and online market for 3D printing files that may be traded and freely exchanged. The website provides vendors with individual shops where they may display their 3D models and distribute them to a worldwide clientele. One of the many 3D file archives that have appeared with the quickly expanding 3D printing business is called Threeding.

Threeding functions in a way that is comparable to early eBay. Users must register and set up a storefront on Threeding in order to sell 3D printing models. On Threeding, setting up a store and adding products is cost-free, but the website takes a commission from each sale. The website offers free sharing of 3D models without any fees. Major credit cards and PayPal are linked on the website.

Several historical and archaeological museums in Eastern Europe have partnered with Threeding and launched online shops. Museum exhibits are 3D scanned, and the museums then sell the digital scans through their online shops. Historical items from the prehistoric, ancient, mediaeval, and modern eras are available as 3D printing models.

What is 3D Modelling?

In 3D computer graphics, 3D modelling is the process of using specialised software to manipulate edges, vertices, and polygons in a simulated 3D environment to create a mathematical coordinate-based representation of any surface of an object (inanimate or living) in three dimensions.

Three-dimensional (3D) models use a network of points in 3D space connected by different geometric objects like triangles, lines, curved surfaces, etc. to represent a physical body.

3D models can be made manually, algorithmically (procedural modelling), or by scanning since they are collections of data (points and other information). Texture mapping can be used to further characterise their surfaces.

A 3D model is the name of the item. A 3D modeller or artist may be used to describe someone who works with 3D models.

Through a technique known as 3D rendering, a 3D model can also be shown as a two-dimensional image or used in a computer simulation of physical processes.

3D models can be produced manually or automatically. Similar to plastic arts like sculpting, the manual modelling technique of creating geometric data for 3D computer graphics. Using 3D printing technology, which builds the model’s 2D layers out of three-dimensional material one at a time, it is possible to physically manufacture the 3D model. Unable to produce a 3D print without a 3D model.
